I’m definitely NOT the first to make the observation, but it isn’t used as a general practice for dealing with ailments. Like, for example, when I was initially diagnosed as having bipolar there wasn’t a system in place with a focus on lifestyle development as the main tool used for management.
All I ever heard on repeat was “Gotta take your medicine. Gotta take your medicine. Gotta take your medicine.” I’ve always been convinced that lifestyle would be a more powerful ally than medicine but… I suppose making the focus on medicine is the easier way to manage mental health systems on a larger scale. I think that trend will change though.
